We are thrilled to announce our new Teen Program, happening every second Sunday at 10:00 am at Unity Spiritual Center of Oak Park. The next meeting will be on Sunday, March 9, and all teens are welcome to join!
Why Youth Groups are Important
Why are youth groups so important, especially during the critical tween and teen years? Youth groups provide a safe and supportive environment where young people can meet, connect, and grow. In these informal settings, teens have the chance to explore their identity, build self-esteem, and develop a sense of community—all with the guidance of caring, responsible adults.
Offering A Safe Space to feel Seen, Heard, and Accepted
During these crucial developmental years, Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development highlights that teens are focused on forming their identity. They look to their peers and trusted adults (often not their parents at this stage) to help define who they are. This is why being part of a group like ours can have a profound impact on a young person’s sense of belonging and self-worth. Whether they’re shy, self-conscious, or feeling isolated, our youth group offers a space where every teen can feel seen, heard, and accepted.
A Spiritual Foundation for the Whole Family
Our Teen Program is designed to provide fun, creative, and meaningful activities. Whether it’s skill-building, community-building games, or engaging in spiritual discussions, our goal is to help teens connect with each other while fostering strong spiritual foundations.
For parents, it’s also a win! Bring the whole family to church on Sunday, knowing that your teen is being involved in healthy, spiritually-based activities while making new friends. Supervised and responsible adults lead the program, ensuring your teen’s safety while they explore their values, beliefs, and purpose.
Find your Voice and Learn Tools to be Your Best
This is a chance for teens to gather, have fun, and feel included—no one is left out, and everyone has a voice. We’ll have refreshments, celebrations, and even special events like holiday parties and retreats throughout the year.
